Lampson Elementary School

Lampson has a new principal.  Our beloved principal, Cheryl Cohen has retired from Orange Unified School District.  Laurie Dieppa, former assistant principal is moving into the role of principal.  Todd Roth, Second grade teacher at Lampson has been promoted to assistant principal.

Also new this year is the PBiS program (Postive Behavioral Interventions and Support).  This is a school-wide behavior program.  Our primary goal this year is to raise student achievement by instilling self-discipline within each and every student.  Teachers, staff, and administration will be attending staff development in this program throughout the school year.  July 21st and 22nd are the kickoff days.  Students will attend an assembly and then, with their classes, rotate around the school to strategic locations (playground, lunch tables, library, computer lab, classroom, restrooms, blacktop, parking areas, and bus) where they will learn the appropriate way to behave at each location.  Parents are welcome to come and show their support and learn first-hand the behavioral expectations for the school year.

Another goal for the 2008-09 school year is to get more parents in the school on a regular basis.  Lampson School belongs to the community.  We want you here as our partner in your child’s education.  Look for other ways to get involved at Lampson in the Lampson’s Leopard Spots newsletter.  PTA (Parent – Teacher Association), SSC (School Site Council), and ELAC (English Language Advisory Committee).  You can also volunteer in your child’s classroom either on a regular basis or for field trips, etc.  If you work and would like to help out after school or on the weekend, there will be several occasions to get involved after school hours, as well.

Many parent education topics will be addressed throughout the year: accessing the parent portal, learning English as a second language, helping your child with homework, and more.

The school office officially opens July 7th, but will be closed Thursday, July 17th from 12:30-3:30 during staff development for the entire staff.

School begins Monday, July 21st.
